22.07.2015 – Tory Government significantly reduces solar FiTs

Having succeeded, at last, in getting a renewables project through planning our hearts sink – along with all of those others affected – as the BBC reports that ‘Small scale solar energy subsidies [are] set to end’.

It is now unclear whether the electrical connection works planned for completion at Ascog during Summer 2016 will even be commissioned. Perhaps we’ll just have to wait for panel prices to drop?

How good it is to have so much clarity and consistent policy from government when making expensive planning and business development decisions!!

As Britain’s old coal plant gets switched off let’s hope the Tories can do their deal with the French and Chinese to build Hinckley Point and keep the lights on these next few decades…

Hinckley’s Strike Price is well above the current wholesale electricity price and far more expensive than solar!!
